Our Volunteer Programs

Nagenahiru Volunteer Placements address a wide range of issues, so you can support what you’re most passionate about. For example, you can care for children; protect the environment, living with wild life, transforming lives of needy people towards a better future and many more. Whatever you do, you’ll be contributing to achieve long-term, sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations while facilitate the socio Economic development of the under privilege segment of the Sri Lankan society.

Our creative and exciting volunteer programs give you the opportunities to have authentic interaction with local people and give something back in hands on way to local communities through a taste of volunteering.

All our programs are locally design by well-educated Sri Lankan dignitaries with long term experience in diversified fields and locally driven by rural community leaders in traditional Sri Lankan villages. Nagenahiru volunteers also designate experience coordinator for each and every volunteer placement who will assist and coordinate and always look after your safety.

Language & Cultural immersion program.

During your volunteering with Nagenahiru Volunteers in Sri Lanka you are schedule to living in host family and living crossly interact with local communities who are speaking a different language , with different cultures, life styles etc.

To get a perfect start to your volunteer vacation we will facilitate you to Gain, key language skills which will add something to your daily interaction with local people and Learn fascinating facts about your host culture , life styles and their traditional livelihoods

While receiving best experience of your volunteering with Nagenahiru Volunteers provide you with one week cultural immersion program for all our incoming volunteers during first week of their arrival to Sri Lanka.

This one week cultural immersion program will be held at the Nagenahiru Nature Center located at Godahena A Rural Cinnamon growing village in Sri Lanka facing Madapa Lake Wild Life sanctuary at South – west coast of Sri Lanka.

How we differ in our cultural immersion program

Which is helping you to prepare for a real unforgettable adventure of a lifetime?

Generally speaking, you will undergo seven days Language & Cultural Immersion program which includes six hours per day consist of class work as well as daily visits to different segments of the local community including , Farmers, Cinnamon and Tea growers, Lake Fisher groups, Women handy craft workers, youth groups etc. Total period of 42 Hours including six hours per day.

It take classes for several hours each day visiting to interesting cultural and nature heritage sites located close by such as Museums, Nature Parks, Boat Tours, Whales & Dolphin watching and many more.

During these daily visits to different locations you will get opportunity to experience many elements of the Sri Lankan cultural traditions as well as practice the language in a natural setting with interaction of local communities.

Accommodation, Meals and Local Transport

Accommodation

Home stay accommodation for volunteers will be provided in carefully selected nearby house of a school teacher or a house of village traditional leader with a separate room with friendly family environment.

It’s very important feature that Host family will look after and care our volunteers as their own children. In other words Nagenahiru volunteers will provide all volunteers “A Home Away From Home” They will accompany you when they participate their family functions, village festivals or visiting church or Buddhist temple, etc.

Thus the home stay promotes international understanding, friendship, and goodwill through cultural and volunteer exchanges. Nagenahiru believe that the best way to develop friendship & understanding among nations is to experience directly the cultures, languages, and customs of the peoples by living with them. We ensure your safety & living happily during home stay with continuous co-ordination by our experience coordinator throughout the volunteering period.

Your Meals

Nagenahiru volunteers will be responsible to provide three meals per day while you are in Sri Lanka. Your meals will be home cook and Host Family will provide with delicious meals for you. All ways you will take your meals together with the host family.

Local Transport

Airport pick up at the arrival and departure of your volunteer assignment will be the responsibility of “ Nagenahiru “ Volunteers and Air condition Private vehicles will be provide for this purpose.

All project related transportation from your arrival to departure we will responsible to provide you private transport in Air condition modern vehicles. All project related transport also arrange by Nagenahiru Volunteers.
