What is Women Empowerment?
These programs provide essential training and education to women through different activities, who in turn support and uplift their communities. We believe that empowering women is a key contributing factor to sustainable economic development. We’re proud to work with community organizations while addressing key issues that women facing with long-lasting results.
- Women Empowerment Volunteers – Will be placed in rural villages in Sri Lanka. Volunteers will be closely intertwined with most vulnerable women groups of the society mainly engaged as casual workers in the field of Agriculture, Handcraft production or in Cinnamon cultivation etc. Volunteers mainly concerned with these isolated female workers and their dependents and aims improve their livelihood & Reduce socio – economic Isolation.
- Women empowerment volunteers also concerned to fill the gap of effective institutional mechanisms for these isolated women to take part in the decision making related to their development & well fare needs while making transformational change in their lives.
- Final task
To be achieved with the establishment and strengthening of a women society for isolated women for the empowerment of these marginalized groups and minimize their social and economic isolation and dependency.
During last two decades “ Nagenahiru Movement “ in Sri Lanka works with several community groups on the ground in Socio- Economic Development of underserved segment of the Sri Lankan population.
